How do I unlock a door that only locks & unlocks on 1 side? It’s a skeleton key door in an older house. ?
I have many skeleton keys that work on other locks around the house. As a matter of fact, it locks most of them from both sides of the doors. My problem is this: 1 skeleton key locks the basement door on the stairway side but not on the kitchen side. So if I blow a fuse, need something out of the basement, or lock up at night it requires me to exit from BM door, lock it, go downstairs & all the way around back in the front door…or vice versa depending on circumstance – (like fixing a fuse). 1) Why is it like this-could it just be dirty or messed up internally and 2) how can I fix it temporarily until I replace it entirely with a new lock later on? Thanks.
