I'd really prefer if a professional could do this or some one more experienced in this area but i can't find anyone so i need to figure out how to cover several scratches which are slightly deep caused by my son who got his hands on a pair of scissors. Some one suggested sand paper but i don't see how that would help and i don't want to make things any worse. It's my mothers fridge and it's brand new stainless steel. I'm a bit worried that if i do use stainless steel paint it will make the tone on the fridge uneven?

What city in the southwestern part of the US is known for or has really good and extensive kitchen and bath showrooms?

the reason I'm asking: My mom and dad want to go away somewhere warm right now and combine that with their housebuilding plans. :)

Any ideas on what city would have a good selection of showrooms?

Thank you for any help!

I have used the Benjamin Moore color visulzr, but they don't let you put color on the cabinets anymore, just the walls. So,..my whole kitchen is beige except for applicances, their white. Beige wall with shades of beige tile around stove and sink and White cabinets. Oh, there is a green valance above sink. I thought about mocha cabinets and Dill (greenish) walls. I need color ideas, anything goes.. Thanks.
counter top is pebbly mix of light brown to very dark almost black specs.
Floors are shades of beige too!

I'm not sure what these are called but sometimes they are found in apartments and possibly homes and they do not have storage but it's a shelf to separate two rooms and it goes from the floor to halfway up the room. I would like to find one or make one. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? How would I search for this online to buy one?

The area I am planning on is 24ft wide and 32t. long. I want to walk into living room and then kitchen together. Then 2 bedrooms on the right side, with utility coming in back door, and bathroom on the same back wall with utility room, but made into 2 seperate rooms. How do I make my floor plans, and plans for not so expensive home. I love wood but in a lighter color. Any help with any of this would be appreciated. Are there any home kits I could buy pretty cheap or at least reasonable? I have very little money to work with. But I also have familiy and friends that say they would help with the building project. Thank You

We just bought a duplex and are planning on remodeling it. The kitchen and living room are not separated by a wall, but looks like one large room. We're looking for a way to make the area look "larger and more open", but still have the 2 spaces be their own, if that makes any sense. (not quite sure if I'm getting my idea across right) We don't want a whole lot of renovations, just painting, redoing the floors, and perhaps some new trim and baseboards. Does anyone know of some websites that specialize in redecorating/remodeling small spaces? Any information would be a great help! Thanks in advance.

Everything in this house at one time was wood panel w/wood doors. I just finished painting the master bdrm and powder room, w/ pale moss green, white trim. Accent colors are navy blue, gold and white. Between the bdrm and powder room is a computer room. Do you think I should do that room in the same colors or a little different w/the same color theme? Ideas please? Also take in consideration, that a long hall way adjoins the computer room. I would like the whole house to kinda blend. But I don't want the exact same colors in every room. Still have the lg.bathroom, kitchen, dining area, living room.

The oak laminate in the fam room bumps up to the ceramic in the kitchen, and the ceramic in the kitch will bump up to the new flooring I decide on for the living room. Would it look o.k. with another wood laminate and if so, does it have to be the same color/type of wood look as the fam room? If the tile is best, what if I can't find the same as I have in my kitchen? I'd kind of prefer not going with tile because I don't like the way my grout stained in my kitchen.

I'm terrible at decorating! Please help with a vision of a flooring that would transition nicely to the ceramic in the kitchen!

If anyone has received an estimate or has recently remodeled/renovated their kitchen, what does an average kitchen run (excluding appliances) just decent cabinets and counter tops, along with tile flooring.

The price of a basement finishing system; walls, lighting and carpet (1200 square feet).

The price of a full bathroom - sink, toilet, tub and shower, also with tile flooring.

Just trying to see where I stand on a home I am looking at purchasing. Thanks so much and take care.

I'm in the middle of doing up my kitchen, and I'm hoping to get some kind of coloured splashbacks for a reasonable price. The glass ones that I've seen are quite expensive, and were only 60cm, so there would be joins. It doesn't even have to be glass, some kind of coloured perspex (or other material) would be great, especially if it was cheaper.

I'm also looking for some stainless steel plinths.

If anyone can recommend anything (in the UK), it would be greatly appreciated.

Just moved into a 1983 rambler. The kitchen has oak cabinets (not my favorite) beige counters, beige tile backsplash and beige tile floor. The small area above the cabinets is white and so is the ceiling. Any ideas for updating until I can replace the counters and backspash? I've already repaced the really bad 1980's pulls on the cabinets. I prefer a more midcentury modern style. I'm open to any and all suggestions.
thanks,

Hi, we are having our kitchen remodeded and I want a backsplash on the wall behind the cooktop. The area is about 84x18 in. Our contractor insists that if I want the wall tiles there, I must have them on all the other wall spaces in the kitchen where there is no cabintery. That will not only be too expensive, but also I dont want that much color in the kitchen(I ve chosen a bright wall tile). Please tell me if I am doing something totally wrong by getting the wall tiles only behind the cooktop

I plan on installing a stained glass tile backsplash in my kitchen. The surface between my cabinets and countertop is painted drywall. I would like to put up something on top of the drywall to apply the tile to so if I or future owners of my house want to remove the backsplash they can do so without damaging the drywall. I'm hoping to use something very thin because there are areas of the backsplash that won't be under the cabinets so the top edge of the backing material will be visible. Any ideas?

I am putting a dishwasher in a kitchen that never had one and there is a plug in a "wall" between the under-the-sink area and where the dishwasher will go. I've heard several different opinions on whether I'll need a plumber AND an electrician or just a plumber.

We also want to get a garbage disposal, will that need an electric source as well?

Any ideas/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Our house is all a light beige color with white trim. We painted our kitchen cabinets black. We have a white counter top with some dark color specks in it, and white appliances. Our problem is in our kitchen we have a fake brick at the bottom half of our wall. It's hideous but we've decided painting it will be alot easier than removing it. To help you understand it is drywall on top a trim then fake brick at bottom. Would painting all of it the same as the rest of our house and the middle and bottom trim white look bad? I kinda suck at this so PLEASE help! We like the neutral colors (beige, white, etc.). Thanks!

We have ceramic tiles in our kitchen that are a tan color. The previous owner put this tile everywhere, on the walls and the counters. I was wondering if they have created a product that can go directly over the tile, rather have to remove all of them on the walls. Doing the counters are no biggie, but I am worried about doing damage to the walls, as this is a really old house and we might get more then we planed trying to remove the tiles from the walls.

I plan to renovate my kitchen but want my new oven/stove top to be on a different wall. Looking at the flat pack kitchens there will be enough room to have the gas pipe ran along the internal wall to the new location (no more than 2.5 meters away if it were ran).. Other than getting a proper trades person to perform this, is it a normal thing that is done or can be done.. Or is there some sort of rule/law just in case it leaks and the gas fills in under the new cupboards?

Cheers

Okay, I am days away from closing on my new house. The house was built in 1992 and is in sound condition but the there is some updating to be done. A list of what I want done can be found below...

Kitchen:
New cabinets, Counters, Back-splash, fixtures and Appliances.

Baths:
Not much just new vanity's and tops for 2 baths

Pool:
Install Heat Pump

Additional things:
New Carpet in 3 bedrooms on the second level and the stairs (750 SF), paint for the entire inside of the house, tear out of in the wall intercom system w/drywall repair (4 units) and lastly the Replacement of 7 light fixtures.

I don't want anything over the top and the house is only 1500 SF. I have done a lot of pricing at Lowe's, Home Depot, Express Flooring and a few local paining company's. I have planned to spend about $30,000 for all these projects but am starting to get overwhelmed with the details and not exactly sure where to start, I need to move into the house before March 1st but want all this work done first.

So my question is, should I use the install services of the multiple company's that I have already priced or just hire a General Contractor?

Thanks in advance!!!

P.S No, I have not paid for, ordered or settled on any exact materials for these projects yet.
The $30,000 I have calculated includes the cost of all materials I have priced and each company's labor/install charges. Those numbers came to $26,000 I am bugeting $4000 over for any last miniute things.

My boyfriend is buying a cheap house that needs alot of TLC. My dad can do most of the repairs, but my boyfriend has to pay for the materials of course. Other than buying carpet remnants, and asking for the paint that the paint store didn't match properly what are some ways to save $?? We need new floors everywhere, lots of paint, a new kitchen counter top/sink and a couple new windows. Thanks is advance!

I am military and I live in base housing. I love to decorate and make my home look more and more beatiful. I have painted all of my walls and I have designed every room in my house. Now the only thing that bothers me is my kitchen floor. I have this ugly linolium that is brown and white. It always looks dirty even if I mop it a million times.

I have heard that there is like roll out linoleum that is temporary. Where can I buy some of this. I will cut it to fit my kitchen, but right now my kitchen is in need of a serious make over.

As I said I live in base housing so whatever I do to my floors cannot be permanent and it cannot damage my original flooring in any way.

Thanks,
Sam

	Hello people!

I am considering purchasing a major fixer-upper home. The original part was built in the early 1900's, and the bathroom is literally atrocious! That is the perfect word for it, it is really really bad, and is the only bathroom.
Quick description: It is basically like a hallway, there are two doors, and you could walk right through it. If you sit on the toilet, which is up against the wall on the left and shut both doors, you can literally lean across and touch the other wall. The current owners actually have the toilet paper hanging from a hook on door in front of you, if that can give you an idea of how tiny this room is. There is a small sink and a tiny tub, which is in the back of the room and goes from wall to wall.
Now, there is a room adjoining the bathroom that is pretty big and right now it has the water heater, washer and dryer, etc in it which I was thinking maybe I could pull that one wall down, rearrange some things for extra space ?? My Dad used to be a plumber and said it would be possible.

Any ideas? Is it too much work to pull the wall down? And how much is it really going to cost? I'm assuming I will replace all fixtures, etc. Also, the floor needs to be ripped up as it is rotting.

The house is really great and has wonderful potential, its really just the bathroom and the kitchen that need to be redone, but these are the most expensive rooms and I'm very nervous.

What can I expect?

Thanks!

I just painted my kitchen. I love the color (red) but it's way too glossy because it's oil based. I primed with gray then did 2 coats of the red and oil based paint from Sherwin Williams (aka show stopper). I love the color but I need to tone it down. Any suggestions are welcome!!!!!!

I may be inheriting my parent's house soon. They have beautiful Mexican tile on the kitchen countertops, but it's a ***** to keep the grout clean. I'm wondering if it would be possible to lay some kind of thick clear, easy-to-clean material over the countertops, so that the tile would be visible but protected. What would be best for this purpose? I'm worried glass would crack if I put a heavy ceramic bowl down on it too hard, but I don't know what sort of plastic would have the clarity I'm looking for. Also, what would the best way to keep the sheets in place? Building them into frames, then laying the frames over the tile? Or using some kind of adhesive patches around four corners?

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

I have a large area where I've removed the old plaster back to the bricks. Had some central heating/water pipes and a gas pipe installed on top of the brickwork, and was planning to put plaster board over it. However, the contractor says he prefers the finish of wet plaster. Because of the pipes, this means he would have to put about 5cm in some places. How does this sound to you?

Also (it's a kitchen by the way) I want to put some tiles as a splashback, only 2 rows of tiles. Is this wet plaster a good base? and the tiles I picked are actually floor tiles so quite weighty, but I like them much more than any wall tiles I could find. But I've seen much heavier (larger) wall tiles.

Is all this extra weight ok for all this wet plaster?

I just painted my kitchen red and I'm putting up this border called Red and all that Jazz. http://www.usahomefashions.com/redandallthj.html
I've always hated the ceiling light over my island and I want to replace it but I don't know what will look good. The one that's up now is about four feet long and 18 inches wide. It has a medium oak colored frame and florescent bulbs with a flat shade similar to what you'd find in a drop ceiling. I want something new and cool but I haven't found anything that seems like it would take the place of this one in size and light output. I am using black and silver accents in the kitchen so those might be good starting points (if I knew where to start!). There is also a ceiling fan in the kitchen/dining area that has an attached light I would like to replace to match the kitchen one, so bonus points for finding something co-ordinating for that one!
Can anyone help me with links or at least give advice about what might look good?
I am open to anything, as long as it doesn't require a lot of construction. I really would like something decorative, rather than recessed lighting though.
The island is used for food preparation and small appliances when I use them; blender, electric frying pan, crock pot, etc. I need good lighting there though because it's the only fixture in the actual kitchen aside from a very small bulb over the sink.
Track lights are an option I've considered (mostly because I can't find anything else that looks cool and sits close to the ceiling!) but I'm a bit worried they'll hang too low, get in the way and not light enough of the kitchen. I do like the funky chandeliers but have the same concerns there.

I have used the above in my kitchen last year with excellent results. The paint is from B&Q and specially for kitchens and bathrooms so I presume it resists condensation, but I wondered if it would be sufficient for the greater condensation of a bathroom. I don't want it to start peeling off!

I just moved to my first apartment, so I don't have much furniture. My living room is my main concern, since the kitchen and dining rooms are pretty much set. I have a couch and a TV stand...that all. I decided I needed a coffee table and end tables ASAP, so I bought those at WalMart because they were cheap and eventually they will be replaced. I ended up with three pieces of black plain furniture that do little to none for my living room. So, I need to improve them. I need suggestions of what I can put on them to make them look more original. Plain black can be a great canvas for creativity!!!!!
Here there's some pics of my empty living room XD!

I just bought a new flat, not too big. Most of my furnitures are pine wood. They appear to be the original wood color. So what colors should I choose for my living room, bedroom, study and my children's room walls?

And what color should I paint my door of kitchen and bedrooms.

Thank you!

We just got a new house. The living room has really high ceilings and its a blue ish green color. The color flows into the botton wall of the dining area and the rest of that wall is a dark red color that goes through out the kitchen. I want to reapaint but dont know what colors will look good in both areas and all together. I want the living room to feel warm and cozy. I just cant find any colors other than that blue that will compiment the red. My kitchen is small and i want to go with a color that will make it look bigger but still have no idea how to make it work, So please Help.... : )

I've heard that you shouldn't but I don't know if it is a must. The building is like from the 20's I think and everything is super old school. There's even the old skeleton radiators in every room. Cool decorating tips would be nice too.

I'm struggling to pick a colour scheme for our new kitchen - we've got mahogany coloured uPVC windows so was thinking cream units then white gloss with grey tops, but what about the walls and floor - I want a light room but not an operating theatre look. Any suggestions? Got no eye for colour!

Okay so I'm getting bored with my kitchen.. it has no theme and is extremely small. My downstairs is black white and tan and my kitchen has creme colored walls black/stainless steel appliences and a grey/brow granite countertop... I've been decorating it according to the seasons ( i have cupcake pot holders and hearts on my towels for valentines day). I'm looking for an idea for a theme that isn't apples or roosters but something that will go with my kitchen. We are more contemporary so country wouldn't fit... any ideas?

if you can't see from the pics, I have three countertops.. one is completly taken up by the mircowave. The other two i use when i'm cooking and such. This is why i'm having a hard time.

We are redoing the kitchen in our house. We are removing these tacky plastic tiles from the drywall but we don't know how to get the grout off from behind them. Does anyone know of a simple yet effective way of removing the grout?
Thanks in advance.

I just need to rent a kitchen table and chairs for 4 months. I don't care how crappy the furniture is I just conveniently want to rent from a cheaper place with flexible leases and not deal with selling/buying/storing.
(I go to school out of state and have an apartment I'm moving out of at the end of May to go home for the summer)

Thank you for any response

So I'm tring to decide if I should use a high quality wood laminate / engineered wood for my 1st level or go with carpet and tile combination.

The 1st level consists of a master bedroom, kitchen, hallway, laundry room, bathroom, living room and dining room (living and dining technically one room). Open concept for the most part, vaulted ceilings in living room with loft above.

Trim, doors, staircase, fireplace mantel, windows are all in a medium oak color.

Which option is best for resale AND visual appeal?

A) Master bedroom = carpet THEN Kitchen, hallway, laundry room, bathroom, living room and dining room = high quality wood laminate / engineered wood
B) Master bedroom, dining room and living room = carpet THEN Kitchen, hallway, laudry room, bathroom = neutral color tile
C) Entire lower level = high quality wood laminate / engineered wood

No matter the option above the Rec room, staircase to upper level, upper level loft, upper second and third bedrooms will all be in carpet.

If I go with a wood laminate / engineered wood which is the best option?
My Trim, doors, staircase, fireplace mantel, windows are all a medium oak color, my furniture (tables) are all dark walnut or chocolate. Couches are cream colors.

A) Closely match the floor color to the trim and window colors
B) Go with a lighter color than medium oak
C) Go with a color lighter than dark walut, but darker than medium oak
D) Switch all trim, door and windows to white and get a color slightly lighter than dark walnut

I am moving into my first apartment, and I am a budding DIY'er. I am going out his week to purchase a new kitchen table from Ikea.

See table: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/74630209

My question is, what should I paint/coat the tabletop with to keep the natural wood showing through, but leave it with a matte finish? I don't want a shiny polyurethane coat, but rather something to waterproof/seal the top. If possible, I'm looking for something food safe, because it is a kitchen table!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 1BR apt facing South. Here's a little more about it... My theme is Asian/Feng Shui but I've also accepted Morocco into the scheme of things as I found two guardian dogs @ Pier 1. I'm buying the Dragon June Rug @ Pier 1 if that helps for the Living Rm.

DINING RM/KITCHEN:
Enter into the dining area. The apartment has been rehabbed. My tiles are marble-esque I guess. They're a really light gray/beige/white... To the right upon entry is a closet with sliding doors which I use as a coat closet/broom closet. To the right is my teeny kitchen. I call it a turn around kitchen. You walk in, turn around, and you're already out. There is a 6' row of cabinets w/ sink and the stove on the right and Fridge on the left. The kitchen is MAYBE 6-8' by 5'. I have an iron sconce on the dining room wall going into the kitchen. I also have an iron mirror on the wall straight ahead of entry into my apt.

LIVING ROOM:
If you go back to the front door, the living room is straight ahead but slightly to your left. The separation between the carpet & tile is on an angle. The carpet is light beige. My furniture is tan microfiber and all the dang tables are OAK. I'm tired of OAK. I have plans to sand down all the tables and paint them black this spring. I have a papsan, loveseat, sofa, tv & stand, DVD rack, 2 end tables & a coffee table. For decorating, I have bought a 3X4' mirror but it hasn't made it onto the wall just yet. I also have an imported Japanese vase (about 3' tall) that I fell in love with. I have a bamboo screen draped with 2 or 3 yards of teal silk imprinted with a Japanese print. There are sliding glass doors on the back wall of the living room that face South. I have a 5X8' balcony.

BEDROOM:
Upon coming in, go past the entry/broom/coat closet. There is another linen closet immediately to the right. just 2 or three more feet ahead is the end of the hall. There is another closet with 3 high shelves because it houses my teeny water heater. This is the game closet. To the right is the bathroom and the left is the bedroom.

Upon entering the bedroom, there are four closet doors (two closets with two mirrored sliding doors each). The window is straight ahead facing south. I have a queen sized bed, nightstand and armoir. There is also a 4' folding table which serves as my computer desk. I have no where else in the apartment to put it. I am going with a black & pink theme in the bedroom.

I know this is rather lengthy but I want to get some good suggestions. I am looking to PAINT accent walls in the Dining Room and Living Room.

Please HELP! :)

I am buying a home which is great, the only problem is that the kitchen has teal counter tops. The cabinets and appliances are white. Walls of the home are a really pale yellow, which i will be painting. The kitchen is open and so the teal sort of takes over not just the kitchen but the family and dining rooms as well. I could replace the counters, but I think that this teal thing might look great. I know that taupe and browns go with teal, but with the white cabinets as well? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

We just bought a mobile home that I am trying to update... the living room is open to the kitchen/dining room and I need help making the colors flow! Since there is no separation between the 2 rooms, do I need to use the exact same colors in both rooms? I want to do some sort of white walls in the living room with a red couch and orange and red accents. Kind of like this bedroom (except it would be a living room of course). http://www.decor-photos.com/a/20086/2/Red-200862101540.html
In the kitchen, I had wanted to do something kind of clean and bright.. like this.
http://valspar.com/project-ideas/design-gallery/val_co_kit1.html
Now.. I know these two don't go together like they are. My question is: Is there any way to make these two ideas flow together or do I need to use completely different colors in the kitchen? Would something like this work better in the kitchen?

Please help!!!

I need a pair of short door curtians. You know the kind they have in Japanese restaurants separating the kitchen from the dining room? They ususally only go down about 1/2 the length of the doorway and are split up the center. Here is a website than has them but check out the prices... ouch!!

http://www.jlifeinternational.com/houseitems/noren/JLNR17.html

Does anyone know of a website that may have this type of curtain for cheap?

Home Renovation Project - Best bang for the bung?

I have a question to see what the general consenus is for the best bang for the buck on a couple projects. The project costs are estimates and I know there are other variables which can effect which project to do, but like to know what the best guess is. All projects are of equal value to me. Home is located in Milwaukee, WI suburb. Most homeowners in the subdivision are young couples or families with children in early teens.

Subdivision specs (median)
Sale Price = $290K
Year Built = 1996
Square Footage = 2,100
Lot Size = .33 acre
Baths = 2.5
Garage = 2

My Home Specs
Appraised = $300K
Year Built = 1995
Square Footage = 2,000
Lot Size = .33 acre
Baths = 2
Garage = 2

Project 1 = Construct 3rd Car Garage / Cost = $10,000
- Currently no shed in yard
- Roof modifcations are needed
- Garage would be within 4-5ft of lot line
- There is space to park in driveway
- Space in current garage is very limited (riding mower and/or two stage snowthrower would not fit)

Project 2 = Add half bath on 1st level / Cost = $15,000
- Push out closet / exterior wall (there is room under overhang of porch so no roof modifications needed)
- Add basic 0.5 bath on 1st level
- Eat in kitchen is off main entry so a new closet (for shoes and coats) can be contructed within the room (no aethtic issues, just take up ~12 sq.ft in a 200 sq. ft kitchen and is directly around the corner from the main entry).
- Now that there is a 0.5 bath on the lower level we can wall off the dual entry master and add a second vanity (currently used as the master bath and 1st level bath),

Project 3 = Rec Room / Cost = $15,000
- Cynder block construction
- Basic design with average materials
- Drop ceiling
- About 500 sq. ft of space
- Will have 0.5 bath
- The square footage and bath technically can't be adverstised as living space without a egress window, even with that it is still denoted as "below" grade

Considering the given details curious why one might think one is better than the other. Right now I'm thinking the rec room would be the best bang for the buck as far as usability BUT for resale I think the added 0.5 bath on the 1st level is best. I just don't know how people would react to putting their shoes and coats in a closet in a kitchen (even though it would be directly around the corner from the main entry.

my dining room and kitchen are connected, there is a long plain wall that runs the length of both of them. I have already painted the bottom burgundy and the top a cream color and there is wood trim seperating the two. I have a dining table, a china cabinet and a large aquarium in the dining room but this one long wall still looks plain and I don't know what to put there. It kinda dwarfs any paintings or pictures I have put there (unless I go spend $1000.00) on a huge one. I thought maybe tall wine rack in the dining room and one of those tall tabled with barstools in the kitchen area? Help I'm so confused and obviously not a decorator....lol

I have a 4'6" diameter glass kitchen table. I think a round rug underneath the table will give my beige kitchen a nice touch of color. I've been told I'll need and 8' diameter rug so that the chairs will fit, but I just done want it that big. I want to accent - not cover that much.

Has anyone seen a smaller rug, like 4' or 6' under a table that still had chairs? Am I nuts to think this is going to work?

Thanks!

I am moving into a new home soon and is pondering the decor/themes. I know I want to decorate a room (maybe master bed / bath) in the old hollywood glamour 1950's/1960's era... but i also want to tie in the rest of the house (living room, kitchen, guest room) without going overboard, but without there being totally different themes in each room. Any ideas of decor / themes to make everything tie in nicely? Thanks in advance

I had a builder add a mud room off of my kitchen. I ordered the same floor tile that I have in my kitchen--the idea was to make the mud room a seamless extension. There is no door between the 2 rooms--just a nice open walkway with a skylight. The builder informs me that the add on has a different floor height, and he wants me to let him put in a marble (or other similar) transition/threshold piece. I hate the idea--I think of that as a transition between, say, a hallway and a bathroom. But what other options do I have? He isn't giving me any--I suspect because other options would be a pain. He says we can't raise the new floor because it would make an existing stairway out of code. Are there any creative options out there? How about other types of thresholds? Or a gradual incline? Any ideas at all are appreciated!
The difference in height between the 2 floors is about 3/4 of an inch.

I'm not sure what color to put on this wall in my great room. It has a very open floor plan and from the living room you can see everything in the kitchen. It has a high vaulted ceiling and all the walls in the great room are going to be Pittsburgh Paints Camel (beige, not too dark). We have a dark brick fireplace on the wall you see when you walk in the door. We would like to paint this wall green. I cannot decide between P.P. Dill or P.P.Birch Forest. Our couch is a forest green color (it's one of those big recliner couches with soft fabric)(we plan on getting new furniture soon..but not RIGHT away). The kitchen is going to be painted P.P. Canyon Stone. I'm just really scared what color of green to paint the wall with the dark fireplace. It has dark brown, light brown, dark brick red (very few), and tan bricks on it. Any suggestions? This is our first home and we are a young family so I don't want it to look too childish..you know?

Have just bought a new house, and the kitchen has that ugly fake wood panelling on all of the cupboards. Was thinking about painting over them but am worried it would look worse. Any ideas?
**The benchtops are lovely 80's mission brown, and the tiles and walls are a cream colour. Wood panelling is a light timber colour
Thanks guys!! Thats really good to know...I won't be worried about making it look any more hideous than it already is!!
